Walk in the Winter Woods

Jan 26, 2018 | By: Mike Moats Photography

We've had some warm temps here in Southeast Michigan over the last couple days and the snow has pretty much melted away.  If my walk in the woods today was a real Michigan winter walk, then I would be on my snow shoes, but with 50 degrees, sunshine, no wind, it felt more like spring in the woods, which is really nice in January.  I didn't want to take my DSLR, lenses, tripod, and all the photo gear, just wanted to walk and enjoy the nice weather and observe nature.  But I did not want to totally miss out on a possible photo opportunity, so I took along my Canon G16 point and shoot, that I could stuff in my coat pocket.  I did find a few subjects to shoot, nothing worthy of adding to my website, but fun stuff I thought was interesting.  When I got home I felt creative, so instead of just doing some basic processing on the four images I liked, I did a little artistic grunge post processing in smart photo editor.  Some times it's fun to just wander in the woods without any real expectation of anything more then just hanging out in nature.
