Waiting On Spring

Mar 18, 2019 | By: Mike Moats Photography

For those of you who have been following me for a few years, you know one of my favorite subjects to photograph are leaves.  As we wait for spring to pop here in the northern regions of the country, we don't have those nice colorful pristine leaves to shoot at this time of year.  After the snow has melted away in the wooded areas we are left with some flattened and washed out winter leaves.  But hope is not all lost, I will still go out for a hike and look for some interesting patterns along with some nice contrast in the tones of the leaves.  Here is a look at the wooded area I'm exploring today.

I liked this washed out white Maple leave contrasting with the darker Sycamore and Oak leaves.  I wanted the image to look a little more artsy, I processed it with a painting filter in Topaz Impressions program.
